Old Forester Birthday Bourbon Sprouts Its 2014 Edition

2014_OFBB_BottleMockupThe Old Forester bourbon brand from Brown Forman Distilling out of Louisville, Kentucky is back yet again with its yearly limited edition Birthday Bourbon. In its 13th incarnation now, it is pricing for around $60 a bottle.

The 2014 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon, according to the distillery, was crafted to celebrate the September 2 birthday of its founder George Garvin Brown. Each release of it is selected from a single day of production and handcrafted, which offers it “a one-of-a-kind character and flavor profile that will never be replicated.” It is bottled into a special decanter style glass container which features the founder’s signature and the dates on which the bourbon was barreled and bottled.

Tasting notes per Brown Forman for this release, bottled at 97 proof, are below.

Nose: Creamy, soft vanilla bean, cinnamon spice and maple syrup, with a touch of candied orange peel.

Taste: Slightly drying at the start, opens into a sweet, creamy, oak led, complex flavor, with a caramelized citrus note.

Finish: Warming on the palate with a yeasty, cake-like mouth feel.
